Painted Art dolls

This week I decided I would combine my love of dollmaking and painting and here is the result ... a painted art doll! I learned a few things ... the hard way, like sew and stuff the doll before you paint it or you can't turn out the cool curly bit on the end of the hat *sigh*. Never mind ... I'm really happy with the results, and my kids have given great ideas for some other designs. I will have some of these for sale in my HelloDollies shop soon, and possibly patterns after I've taught it at the FDAA convention (that's forward thinking and confidence all rolled into one!!! LOL).

It's Australia Day!

Tonight we will be watching the fireworks at Darling Harbour (pictured above) from a spectacular rooftop vantage point! The above photo is gorgeous, and not mine ... check out billjank on Flickr.

Japanese cuteness from Germany

I was surfing Etsy the other day and came across this gorgeous amigurumi seahorse pattern. Three words people ... I WANT IT. One problem ... I don't crochet ...yet *hee hee*.

This pattern is by the talented Diana of mygurumi (click here to find her shop). Diana directed me to YouTube for this tutorial, and I also found this one. Fantastic!

Red Dorothy

I finished this doll today, a custom order for a fabulous client who always give me interesting projects. Isn't she beautiful? I have listings in my shop now for custom dolls. You choose the base doll and then decide what colour and style her hair will be as well as her clothes & shoes.

Little Angel Annie

This is a custom order, and I am really pleased with her. She has beautiful mauve velvet clothes with silver stars, highlighted with a silver star button, and lovely white feather wings. It'll be a shame when she goes to her new home.

Dolls in ... dolls out ...

Today my favourite Annie ... the ladybug Annie ... left for her long journey to California. As soon as she went, though ... more Annies are going up in the shop. And most interestingly ... Andy!

I have 2 bald and one unstuffed doll sitting on the table, 2 for the shop, one custom order. They'll be attended to shortly. Most exciting, though is another trip to the fabric store tomorrow for another custom order that I'm really excited about ... Dorothy Annie :D Thankfully hubby is taking the princesses to work with him, so I will have the entire day to myself!
