Gothic Annie

This one was created for my sister. At first she scoffed when I told her I was going back to dollmaking ... but as soon as she saw my Annies she said "Could you make me an 'Emily the Strange' one?" Now ... how can a girl pass up a challenge like that???

Who is Emily the Strange? A fabulous gothic comic book character. Now I just have to make a cat to go with this doll, and my sister's alternative Annie is ready! I wonder if there's a market for Gothic Annie dolls out there? Hmmmmm.....

Sweet Hearts is right!

Well ... I got the biggest compliment yesterday. My dh actually said "They're really good. You could sell those." ... *faint*. Yet another confirmation that Annies are definately up my alley, and appeal to almost everyone! LOL I love them enough to have taken a 3rd trip to Spotlight, and didn't I come home with the scrummiest fabrics and hair!!! Must find the local quilting store ... although, that could be dangerous ;)

These 2 are the SweetHeart pattern by De (Bowls N Annies), and came together very easily. The little Pirate hat has a brooch back on it, so it can be worn by Annie, or owner!

Are we sick of Annies yet?

Well ... after staying up until 3am to finish this one, I might take a day off. It always amazes me that time really does fly when you're having fun :D But sick of them ... not yet!

This is De's freebie pattern 'Little Long Legged Big Haired Annie', done in pink. I think unravelling the hair took the longest, but it looks so good! I even added bling to this one with some KindyGlitz. You can find this pattern on the Bowls 'n' Annies blog (There's a link on the right).

Happy Australia Day! (maybe one more in red, white & blue *hee hee*).

Melon-choly Annie!

The up-side to this new Annie addiction is that I have Annie #4 displaying her pretty watermelon dress. That gorgeous little melon stitched onto the skirt used to be white felt, but a little paint and it's a snazzy embellishment! She also has a little red button on her shoes.

The down-side to being consumed with my creative pass-times is that it's after 6pm, and I've not thought about preparing dinner ... oh my!

Ahoy there, Annie!

A bit over the top ... but it had to be done. Say 'arrrrrrr' to Pink Pirate Annie! I took a break from Annies today, but I'll be back at them tomorrow 'cause I've got a blank body just waiting to be given a fabulous outfit :D ... and De has the cutest freebie pattern on her blog for a little long legged big haired Annie that I'm going to have to try!

Another Annie!

Success!!! Another Cyndy Ann dolly completed tonight. Lots easier and faster second time around, and I expect the next ones will be even easier ... yes I'm addicted! :-D There's going to be a couple of very excited little girls here tomorrow morning to find both their dollies complete with blushing cheeks and snazzy fashions.

Hello Annie!

Look what 24 hours and lots of encouragement from 2 little girls can bring ... hello Annie! I know Annie's usually have red hair and are tea-dyed, but afore-mentioned little girls insisted on pink. I will have my fun with tea-dying and red hair when they go back to school next week :D

This is Cyndy Anne, pattern by De at Bowls-n-Annies (there's a link to the store at the right of my blog). I made a few boo-boos, so that makes it a learning experience LOL. Anything that combines painting with sewing (and using up the enormous box of stuffing that my dh has been grumbling about) has got to be good ... right? Now I have to make a sister for this Annie so that there's no fighting tomorrow.

Booty Beauties!

I bought a pattern for these little 'Easy Peasy Japanesey' baby booties yesterday, and sewed up a pair straight away using only scraps. Pattern was bought from http://greenjelly.etsy.com and was devilishly quick & easy to make. Can't wait to get my hands on asian prints, fairy fat quarters and earthy fabrics so I can make some of these to take to the markets!

A little bit darker ....

OK ... so these are a little darker than my usual airy fairy pictures. I'm working my way up to gothic, and these are kind of in-between ... sombre, but I think they're still beautiful. Would love to know what the people think ... too creepy, or ok?

Oh, didn't I have fun with this! I've morphed my little nephew into a daisy! I'm going to turn this into his birthday card ... I'll post a pic of the finished card later this week after I print the picture and construct it. Now I'm off to try to morph my dh's face onto his x-box controller *ha ha ha*.

Fairy Fantasy

I've been having fun getting out and about and adding more images to my library. Couldn't resist perching a little fairy atop this baby strawberry, and can you imagine the smooth ride on the back of a pelican?

If you have a child (or a child at heart) who would squeal with delight to see themselves tiptoe through the tulips, sunning on a sunflower, or playing with pelicans, please contact me at dlewis71@aapt.net.au for details on how to order. To see other examples, click the link top right of this blog and look at the Fairy Portraits folder.

... and now I'm back to a painting mood. It's all about bears, and hopefully these little darlings will make their way into an instruction book by the end of 2008. There's nothing I wont' paint these cuties on ... canvas, fabric, diary covers, aprons, scrapbooking pages ... if it don't move, it's fair game for painting!

Nobody faint with surprise ... I've been scrapbooking. I'm on a roll !!! I've done all of these in the last few days. The first is for my nephew's first year album, with space for my sister to journal her thoughts on teething. The second is my kids' first experience with halloween last year. The third is my favourite friends, whom I miss desperately *sigh*. My proudest achievements with these layouts is handcutting the title on 1 and 2, not to mention finishing them completely to my great satisfaction. Maybe I'll leave the computer and go do another one!
